Cell Phones

I have discussed a few times in the past the cell phones cause cancer idea, including a small rant in this post, but I think xkcd has it right in their comic from yesterday.

Make Your Own Story

I know I am a day late but this comic, from xkcd, was too good not to share. My fiance is a woman in science and while it isn't bad from most fellow scientists but what comes from those on the outside often leaves you wondering. Remember be yourself and make your own story/future.

Space: At the Current Rate

So I have explained in the past I feel that NASA and space exploration are important to our future. With the Space Shuttle program coming to an end, the last flight of Endeavour will occur once they fix whatever the problem is, xkcd released a comic today showing that by 2035 we will likely have no one alive who has walked on another planet/planetary body/world. Make sure you go to the comic itself and mouse-over the comic, I agree completely with them.

Beauty Around Us!

Herpetology is Paraphyletic

Another great comic by xkcd this time explaining how the study of Reptiles and Amphibians in one group, known as Herpetology, is in fact an unnatural grouping and so it is paraphyletic. Make sure you visit their site itself so you can see the comment when you mouse over the comic, lets just say that there is a problem that Aves is a Class while Dinosauria is a Superorder (ironically this is something I covered in the labs I taught this week).

XKCD for the win

I am sure that this image will circulate the internet a lot over the next few days, example here. Another line of evidence that supports true science and goes against pseudoscience, ok not really evidence but an evidence based comic.

This should serve as a pretty good response to Conservapedia's anti-relativity stance lately. I highly recommend xkcd for all of your nerdy comic needs, I am subscribed to the feed.

Why argue against people who believe the earth is 6000 years old?

So people might be wondering why do I care about informing people what the science actually says. Well today I was clicking through xkcd and came across this:

Yeah the fact that anyone can become a member of our representative democracy and/or they vote is pretty much the main reason.
